Craltech Study Case

Case Study: Bridge AV Consolidation in the North Sea with ScreenBridge KVM Technology

Overview
In an era where precision, safety, and efficiency are critical to maritime operations, a high-tech fishing vessel operating in the challenging waters of the North Sea has undergone a major technological upgrade. The mission: to centralize and streamline its control bridge for enhanced monitoring, decision-making, and operational fluidity.

Supporting this transformation is the deployment of ScreenBridge KVM 24x24, an all-in-one professional AV processor that gives the bridge a consolidated, centralized view of the vessel’s key signals alongside the crew’s primary systems.

ScreenBridge North Sea Vessels

Project Objective
To design and implement a centralized AV layer that gives operators a single, consolidated view of selected shipboard feeds—ranging from radar and sonar to navigation and CCTV—while ensuring an intuitive operator experience. The goal: improve situational overview and reduce cognitive load for crew members working alongside the vessel’s primary systems in complex marine environments.

The Solution: ScreenBridge KVM 24x24 Integration
Craltech’s team delivered a fully integrated video and command solution using ScreenBridge KVM 24x24 system, which supports 24 inputs and 24 outputs within a single processing unit.

This setup enables the seamless aggregation and distribution of the selected operational feeds across a large bridge video wall and multiple operator stations, complementing the crew’s primary navigation systems.

Key Features Implemented:
Dynamic Signal Routing: Operators can send any input—radar, sonar, navigation, etc.—to any output or screen at any time, thanks to ultra-flexible video routing.
Advanced Multiview Capabilities: Multisource visualization allows simultaneous display of multiple feeds on a single screen, supporting at-a-glance monitoring of the consolidated AV view.
Custom Control Interface: Integration with Elgato Stream Deck and proprietary ScreenBridge software enables one-touch switching, preset layout changes, and direct access to specific feeds.
Centralized Video Wall View: Sonar imaging, onboard CCTV and chart feeds are consolidated on a centralized AV view, giving operators an additional quick overview alongside their primary stations.
Robust & Reliable AV Layer: Hardware-based design built for continuous uptime as a steady, always-on consolidated AV view for the operators.

Why This Matters
Fishing vessels in the North Sea face unique operational challenges: high seas, variable weather, tight margins, and environmental regulations. A clear, consolidated view of the relevant feeds helps crews stay efficient and well-organized day to day.

With Craltech’s ScreenBridge KVM, this vessel’s crew benefits from:
- Enhanced situational overview
- Faster operator workflow in day-to-day scenarios
- Simplified training & reduced fatigue for operators
- Seamless integration with future scalability

From Chaos to Control: One-Touch Operation
The intuitive control interface, powered by Stream Deck integration, puts the full AV layer at the crew’s fingertips. Operators can switch layouts, focus on specific feeds, or recall preset views with a single button press—no technical expertise required.

Looking Ahead
As marine vessels continue to evolve into floating data centers, solutions like ScreenBridge KVM are proving valuable as a centralized AV visualization layer that complements the vessel’s primary systems. With full customization and intuitive control, Craltech positions itself as a partner for centralized AV consolidation on board, in both fishing fleets and commercial shipping.
